T.Y. HISTORY TRIP

20160518_124027 (2)The Transition Year students went to Glasnevin Cemetery and The GPO on Wednesday May 18th.  In Glasnevin they learned that the most visited grave is that of Michael Collins and saw the flowers, cards and notes left on his grave by well wishers. They also learned that there are 1.5 million people buried in Glasnevin, more than the population of Dublin at present. In the GPO they furthered their knowledge of the 1916 Rising as it was the headquarters of the volunteers during Easter 1916. A big thank you to Ms. Ciara Kenny, Ms. Louise Kenny, Ms. Ciara Grufferty and Ms. Simone O’Neill for organising the trip and accompanying the students.
