small galaxy

As part of the Cycle Against Suicide campaign, Mr. Daithi Flynn and TY students made cardboard stars for The Gratitude Galaxy –  which hangs over the 6th year area in the St. Patrick Building.  The stars represent all our hopes and dreams for the future and inside each of the big stars are messages of gratitude that students wrote.   There is a large star for every class in the school and these notes were placed inside them.  Also, every 4th year student made a small star. The school is working towards being part of the “Cycle Against Suicide” movement and this action supports the organisation.

When the Galaxy was “opened”, Ms. Frances Threadgold, Principal, addressed the whole school, “Gratitude means thankfulness, counting our blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that we receive and all of the lovely people in our lives. Showing gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. Giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient, it strengthens relationships, it improves health, and it reduces stress.   So from on, everyone in the school is asked to make an effort to give the gift of gratitude to people in their lives.”
