Traces of Memory

All the 4th Year classes visited an exhibition at Carlow College recently.   Titled, ‘Traces of Memory:  A Contemporary look at the Jewish past in Poland’, it ran from the 6th – 29th of April.    It was organised by the Holocaust Education Trust Ireland in association with the Galicia Jewish Museum, Krakow.   The exhibition pieced together a picture of the remnants of Jewish life and culture in Polish Galicia that can still be seen today, interpreting these traces in a manner which was informative, accessible and thought-provoking.    The documentary, ‘The Holocaust Survivors Living in Ireland‘, ran alongside the exhibition.

The Colm & Padraig IV’s went to it on the morning of Wednesday, April 13th.   The Aidan & Bríd IV’s visited in the afternoon and were lucky enough to be there for the official launch of the Exhibition.   They were also privileged to hear a talk given by a Holocaust survivor, Mr. Tomi Reichental.
