20160429_114738On Friday 29th April at 9.35  all 173 First years boarded one of two coaches or two mini buses bound for The National Heritage Park at Ferrycarrig, Wexford. On arrival they were divided  into groups to be shown around the park by knowledgeable guides in costume, everyone envied their cosy woollen tunics and cloaks on such a chilly morning. The Heritage Park complements 1st year History studies as it brings Mesolithic to Celtic history to life. They saw a Mesolithic camp, a Neolithic house, a portal Dolmen, a Cist grave from the Bronze Age, an Ogham stone, and an early Christian monastery to name but a few. They also saw a working Fulacht Fiadh but even it could not cater for 173 hungry 1st years and all adjourned to McDonalds and Burger Mac for lunch. The teachers accompanying the students were Ms. C. Grufferty, Ms. B. Doyle, Ms. L. Kenny, Ms. S. O’Neill, Mr. J. O’Neill and Mr. D. Hennessy. The visit was perfectly timed as it helped with revision for the summer test. A big thank you to Ms. C. Grufferty who organised the trip.
