Several events took place at F.C.J. Secondary School, Bunclody to mark National Fitness Day, which took place on Friday, 16th September.   First of all it was a Jersey Day in the school with students and staff turning up in their favourite sports jersey.   The school was a sea of colour instead of the usual green and the jerseys represented an extraordinary number of teams, counties and different sports.   At morning break and during lunch time, the 1st and 2nd year students were led through a series of exercises and this will be a feature of their school weekfrom now on.  IMG_2589

In the afternoon, everyone went to the playing fields instead of their classrooms where a very exciting Tug o’War competition took place between members of the teaching staff and senior students, boys and girls.    Following the contest, which was won by the staff, the whole school went on a long walk around the Golf Links – a very large green area by the river Slaney, containing magnificent mature trees, and which the school is very lucky to have as part of the school campus.IMG_2599
