This year over 2,000 projects were submitted for the BTYS&T Exhibition but only 550 were accepted for the finals which took place in the RDS, Dublin, during the second week of January.   We are very proud that one of our 2nd years, Pierce Ryan V.II, Kildavin, made it to the Technology Section of the Finals with his project “Madralert – a Slurry Gas Alarm for Dogs”.

Pierce’s invention emits a sound when slurry gas is detected by a sensor.  The sound is very unpleasant for dogs so they leave the area immediately if gas is present.

All of our 1st Years visited the Exhibition on Friday, January 12th, to support Pierce and view the hundreds of stands in the Exhibition Hall.  They also had a great time at the various shows and acts that were put on for visitors, especially The World of Robots.
