On Sunday, March 11th, the 4th County Wexford Youth Orchestra Festival was held in the National Opera House, Wexford.   The F.C.J. Senior Band was one of nine involved in the Festival ranging from primary schools to the Co. Wexford Youth Orchestra.

The F.C.J. Band, under the direction of our music teacher, Mr. Dale Hennessy, played ‘Highlights from Grease’ (Arr. Paul Murt) and ‘Shut Up and Dance’ (Ar. Matt Conaway).   Our players were:

Liam Ascott, Liza Bates, Lauren Bolger, Orlaith Breen, Anna Burke, Diarmaid Burrows, Brian Byrne, Ríona Byrne, Aoife Clauson, Richard Conroy, Josh Darcy, Maeve Dillane, Anna Dillon, Ciara Doyle, Eimear Doyle, William Dunne, Matilda Dunne-Cronin, Brídín Dwyer, Isla Flynn, Aoife Gorman, Saoirse Hanrahan, Eimear Harrington, Katlyn Hassey, Ellen Hutt, Bronagh Judge, Chloe Kavanagh, Ciara Kavanagh, Sarah Kealy, Darragh Kearney, Thomas Kearns, Amy Kehoe, Norah McGinty, Aoife Milne, Sarah Nolan, Daire O’Gorman, Clodagh O’Leary, Fionn Ó Muiri, Róisín Ó Muiri, Maura O’Rourke. Barry O’Toole, Patrick O’Toole, Shalom Oldairan, Alva Power, Saoirse Power, Paige Prinsloo, Neil Redmond, Isabel Ryan, Jack Sinnott, Andrew Skelly, Paulina Skiersinis, Hannah Sweeney & Robert Weston.

At the end of the Concert, 250 members of the bands and orchestras came together to play under the direction of Guest Conductor, Mr. Gearóid Grant.   Gearóid taught music at our school for many years and founded the F.C.J. Band in 1983.    Gearóid had arranged all the music to cater for the different instruments in the group:  Abba Medley;  Pirates of the Caribbean, Tequila & Themes from 007.

The capacity audience hugely enjoyed the performances by each band and orchestra and the group finale.
