COVID-19 Response Plan for Post-Primary School
In line with government guidelines please see below for the Department of Education’s COVID-19 Response Plan for Safe Reopening of Post Primary Schools, as has been implemented by FCJ Bunclody:
Safety Measures Implemented in FCJ Bunclody
At school level, we have made every effort to make our campus as safe and as comfortable for our students and staff in the context of our return to school this year. We continue to reflect on these new changes and procedures in order to maintain the safety environment possible for all. To date, this includes:
- Student groups spread our across 5 buildings
- Rooms and corridors reconfigured to ensure physical distancing
- One-Way systems introduced, with designated entry and exit points to reduce footfall and congestion on the corridors
- Students from 1st to 4th year (TY) have designated base classrooms to limit movement during the day
- Over 70 picnic benches outdoors, with 5 marquees purchased, and more on the way!
- 3 new classrooms constructed
- Staggered morning and lunch breaks for Junior and Senior students (see timetable in information tab)
- Designated classrooms for 5th and 6th year students for breaks
- Earlier finishing times to cater for staggered collection of students
- Hand sanitiser units at main entry/exit points at in each building, and in all classrooms (with additional sanitising wipes in all classrooms)
- Extra wash hand basins installed in toilets
- Water heaters installed
- Paper dispensers installed in toilets to replace hand towels
- Lockers spread out over the entire campus for social distancing
- All seating removed from corridors
- 2 extensive deep cleans of the school have taken place over the summer break, with another happening at October Mid-Term
- Extra cleaning takes place at the end of each school day
- We now have a dedicated Covid-19 cleaner on duty throughout the day
- Students returned on a phased basis in September with induction for all classes on new protocols, with a refresh session for all students on return from the October Mid-Term break
