We were over the moon to see a great article in the Irish Independent over the weekend about past student, John Milne📰👨‍🎓 John is so fondly remembered here in FCJ. And we were even delighted to get a mention in the article!😁 The link is attached below, so have a read of the full piece, but just to give you a flavour, here is an extract from it;👀⬇'As events are under way across the nation to celebrate Engineer’s Week, which is Ireland's largest celebration of the engineering profession, Ferns native, John Milne, shares his experience of university, his family farm in Co. Wexford and his internship at EirGrid, the operator and developer of Ireland’s electricity grid.' The article continues 'Having completed his Leaving Certificate in FCJ Secondary School in Bunclody in 2021, John gained a place in an inclusive master’s degree in energy system engineering, at University College Dublin. Now in his fourth year, the talented student is completing an eight-month internship with the transmission system operator.'Well done and continued success, John!🚜⚡Article: www.independent.ie/regionals/wexford/gorey-news/wexford-student-is-shaping-irelands-energy-future...#farming #agriculture #engineering #eirgrid #UCD ... 'In a world where you can be anything, be kind.' ✨ - The other day we celebrated Le Cheile Day✝🎆 The theme this year was Kindness. Acts of kindness are carried out by our school community every day, this was an opportunity to celebrate this core value of our school👨‍🎓 Siofra, a member of our Chaplaincy team, read a lovely reflection about the importance of being kind, to each other and to ourselves🙋Some of the 6th Year Cinnealtas Leaders (Pictured here) attended a 3rd Year assembly. Cian spoke about some of the projects that they have been involved in and they gave the 3rd years some lovely exam prayer cards🕊 The Chaplaincy Team also provided some biscuits on the tables in the staffroom. Le Cheile Day was a lovely opportunity to remind the school of the importance of being kind!😁##lechéileday #lechéileday2025 #lecheileschoolstrust #fcjsisters #fcjsistersireland #kindness ... Tomorrow is International Women's Day 🙋‍♀️We are so lucky in our school to have such great female role models in both our staff and students alike👩‍🏫👩‍🎓 As you know already, our school would not exist without women. Stop and appreciate that for a moment..🤔Oh yes, of course some may say, ‘Woohoo, no school!’ However, just think about that for a second. That means; no friends, no favourite teacher, no hurling or camogie team. No pride in the maroon and white jersey, no stopping the bus for a 99 after a match (Don’t tell Mr Daly!😅). No musical, no Concert Hall, no school tours, no tractor run, no student versus teacher match, no astroturf and no grass pitches that seem to go on and on forever. No awards day, no 6th Year Graduation, no Debs, no relationships, boyfriends or girlfriends, no memories…none of it would be here without women. The FCJ Sisters laid the foundations of our school 164 years ago. And this meant that we could have all of this today📚📝⚽🎵🎹🎒🎓We don’t need a reason to celebrate women, we’ve celebrated them here since 1861. Because we know, without them, we’d be nothing. So here’s to all the great female faithful companions out there. A big happy International Women’s Day to you!😁#internationalwomensday #fcjsisters #fcjsistersireland #whorunstheworldgirls #femalefaithfulcompanions #lecheileschoolstrust #rolemodels ... How many pairs of shoes do you own?🤔👟 Some of us (including teachers!) would be embarrassed to say😅 However, imagine having none. This is a reality for some people. We are running (no pun intended) an FCJ Charity Shoe and Football Boots Appeal over the next two weeks👠 This initiative is being organised by the two Ms Doyles, C. and T. Ms T Doyle will be travelling to Sudan over the Easter break and will be taking the football boots with her for the children there👢⚽✈‘Our Shoes’ and ‘Home NGO’ are two organisations that collect shoes which are then distributed to community programmes in Africa🌍 We are looking for all clean shoes that are in reasonably good condition. We know that many houses out there will have an accumulation of no-longer-used runners and football boots. So get emptying out those wardrobes, utility rooms and sheds!👞Donations can be dropped into the boxes at the front office starting tomorrow📦 This will be here until the 20th of March. Please make sure the pair of shoes/boots are secured together using the laces or a cable tie👡Please help spread the word - Thanks in advance!😁#ourshoes #homeNGO #helpingthoseinneed ...
