As you know, St Brigidโ€™s Day was on Sunday๐Ÿ•ฏ With all the bad weather we have had recently itโ€™s fair to say we were delighted to see her, because as the song goes - 'Brigid brings the spring, she awakens all the fields and the flowers, and calls the birds to sing'โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŽถIn the run up to St Brigid's Day a number of classes were busy learning the craft of weaving crosses๐ŸŒฑโœ One of the customs associated with the Brigid's crosses is to hang it in the rafters or over entryways of buildings, thus invoking the Saint's blessing and protection for the remainder of the yearโ˜˜โœจAlso, you probably saw Nellie (3rd Year), Eppie (1st Year) and their sister Nan busy at work making their signature St Brigid's crosses. The girls have been selling them recently and you have to agree, they're absolutely brilliant!#stbrigidscross #StBrigidsDay #welcomespring #lecheileschoolstrust #fcjsisters ... See MoreSee Less

South Leinster Champions - Match Report๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸฅณFCJ produced an impressive all-round performance to record a deserved 2-13 to 0-11 victory over Portarlington, combining clinical finishing with committed defending and high work rate throughout.FCJ settled quickly and opened the scoring through Cathal Whelan, who landed an excellent two-pointer. Jack Doyle and Noah Byrne added well-taken points, while Cathal also converted a free to keep the scoreboard ticking. Portarlington had an early opportunity but sent their first real chance wide after ten minutes.A strong run from Michael Redmond created an opening for Conor Leacy whose effort drifted wide but earned a 45, which Cathal Whelan confidently converted. FCJ continued to apply pressure, forcing Portarlington into further wides. Aaron Nolan made a powerful run from deep, narrowly missing out on a score, highlighting FCJโ€™s attacking intent.Cathal Whelan then struck a superb second two-pointer from outside the 45, underlining his accuracy from distance. Physicality was matched with skill, as a strong shoulder from Cathal Whelan drove his opponent over the line. A free won by Conor Leacy was worked smartly through Michael Redmond to Eoghan Treacy, who pointed calmly. The highlight of the half followed soon after, with Eoghan Treacy, finishing an excellent team move with a well-taken goal. Portarlington managed a late point, but FCJ went in comfortably ahead at the break.Half-time score: FCJ 1-09 Portarlington 0-03FCJ restarted strongly, with Cathal Whelan converting another free. Portarlington responded with two two-pointers from placed balls as they increased the intensity, but FCJ stayed composed. Liam Brennan fed Jamie Norris Kane, who popped over a neat point, and followed it up with another moments later.Five minutes into the second half, Aaron Nolan, pushing forward from wing-back, made a decisive run and rattled the net for FCJโ€™s second goal. At the back, Tommy Moynihan was commanding in goal, coming confidently off his line, while Cathal Pender and Podge Finn impressed with disciplined defending and timely turnovers. The work rate of Paddy O'Neill, Michael Redmond , and Eoghan Treacy was evident on both sides of the ball, repeatedly breaking up Portlaoise attacks. Substitutions added fresh energy, with Mike Sheehan replacing Liam Brennan after a strong performance, and Dara Shortall coming on for Jamie Norris Kane, who had made a valuable scoring contribution. As the game entered its closing stages, Portarlington pressed hard, but FCJโ€™s defence stood firm with Podge Finn making excellent tackles in the full back line. A tense moment saw Portarlington awarded a 45 late on, but FCJ responded immediately. In the final minute, Portarlington went in on goal, only for Tommy Moynihan to pull off an excellent double save.
