'HEY SIR!! WILL YA SIGN ME SHIRT?!?!'🖊👔🤪 - With only one or two more exams to go, our Leaving Certs will soon be SIGNING OFF for good!😅 Signing 6th Year shirts has been what seems like a life long tradition in our school🎓 On the last day the students have an unspoken competition to see who can get the most signatures on their shirt. This year the staff contemplated taking down the staffroom door as it was being banged on so much looking for teachers’ signatures. This was all in the name of fun and tradition of course!🤣#signingoff #almostthere #LeavingCert2025 ... See MoreSee Less

There was a great sense of celebration this week as Mr Daly, joined Charles Smith of the Irish Angus Producer Group for a special visit to the farm that's home to the 5 Certified Irish Angus calves won by Grace Warren and Hollie Mae Power Sinnott, in the prestigious Irish Certified Angus Schools Competition at the National Ploughing championships🥳🐄The calves names are Poppy, Fernado, Charlie, Benny (after Mr Daly!😂) and William. The 4 bulls and 1 heifer are being reared alongside Hollie Mae’s grandfather’s herd of Angus cattle, offering the perfect setting for the girls to carry out their competition project. They are weighing in at 511kg, 541kg, 481kg, 425kg and 578kg⚖ Grace and Hollie-Mae who were selected as finalists in March 2024 when they were in TY. As part of the competition, they are tasked with rearing 5 Angus calves while also preparing an in depth project on comparison of Irish beef sector vs the rest of the world, while looking at multi species topics such as sustainability, traceability, and food production🥩🍽During the visit, Grace and Hollie Mae proudly introduced the calves to Mr Daly and Mr Smith, outlining their daily care routines and sharing insights into their broader project work. The dedication and passion shown by the girls left a strong impression👏Mr Smith commended the students, saying, 'It’s a pleasure to see such commitment from the next generation of farmers'. Grace and Hollie Mae are doing exceptional work, and their care for these calves is clear to see. We’re immensely proud of the girls' accomplishments so far in this competition and grateful to Hollie Mae’s grandfather, along with their teacher Ms O Dwyer for supporting them😁As the girls continue to rear the calves in the lead up to the final judging at Croke Park in March 2026 , there’s no doubt their project is already a source of great pride for our school and their families📚The girls will continue to rear the calves over the summer and pay visits to local primary schools in June to prompt their project. The girls will continue to care for and feed their calves to get them ready for slaughter in ABP Slaney Meats in Bunclody in mid August🐮 ... See MoreSee Less
