A great picture of FCJ’s ‘Class of 2025’ at their Debs the other night!💃🕺This puts us in mind of our new 1st Years. They pass the staffroom window as the teachers sit and sip their morning coffee, their youthful heads hardly visible over the concrete sills outside…it’s funny, as we still remember you like that. Alas, you are adults now. And we delight in knowing that we played a part in getting you there…So, from everybody here, we wish you all the health, happiness and luck in the future!😁#debs #leavingcert2025 #overandout ... Surely this is one of the best skills our 4th Years learn during their Transition Year, Water Safety!💧🏊As a coastal county particularly it's important that we can swim but also learn to respect the water🌊 In school we learn a lot, but not everyday you learn something that can save your life, quite literally!💟A big thanks to Mr Dooley, who himself is a qualified lifeguard, and Ms Johnston for making this worthwhile module part of #watersafetya#lecheileschoolstrustt#Lifebuoye#respectwaterwater ... If you're looking for role models, well then here they are🌟 Along with kindness, decency, razor sharp wits, sporting talent and artistic prowess, these students have the smarts to back it up! These are FCJ’s TOP EARNERS 2025!🎓🤩Each of the students pictured here in the first photograph secured a colossal 600 POINTS OR MORE in their Leaving Cert, including FOUR who secured the MAXIMUM 625✅ This has even broken our own record high of three students last year obtaining 625! That is INCREDIBLE!🥳 The students are; Leanne Mahon, Deirdre Ní Bhroin, Luke Burke, Clodagh O’Dowd (These 4 secured 7 H1s!), Darragh Roberts, Nicole Roberts, Caoimhe Byrne, Mathew Capone, Sarah Byrne, Niamh Cox and Leah Murphy👨‍🎓🎉And get ready for this, 30% of our students this year received 500 points or more. Again, just to put perspective on that, it means 1 in every 3 students in FCJ got over 500 points📚Another great statistic to go with this is that almost 75% of our students got 400 points or more! Again, an excellent achievement!📝Now not seeming to brag, but when you have success like this, it must be celebrated! You’ll notice a number of students here pictured outside. These students secured 100% in their exams💯 That means they sat the exam and didn’t lose a single mark throughout. Can you imagine that!? We had students secure 100% across an array of subjects, a testament to our students and indeed their teachers. The subjects included; Art, Biology, Chemistry, Chinese, English, French, Maths and Physics!🎨🧪🔬🇨🇳🎭🇫🇷📐⚛As you well know, in FCJ we always look far beyond just the points the students secure, to us we place as much value on the type of person you are and how you treat others😁 It’s central to our school’s ethos and mission statement. However, you have to agree, when students get such great results, it’s worth making a fuss about them too👏A massive thanks to our Principal Mr Daly, the Deputy Principals and all of the subject teachers for the endless work they put in to help the students get these results, without them it wouldn’t be possible either!👨‍🏫#leavingcertresults2025 #highachievers #sixtwofive #onehundredpercent ... On Friday, 22nd August 2025, Grace Warren and Hollie Mae Power-Sinnott accompanied by their Principal Mr. Brendan Daly, Mr. Joe Byrne, Chairman of the Board of Management and FCJ Ag Science Teacher Ms Stephanie O’ Dwyer brought their five Certified Irish Angus cattle to ABP Slaney in Bunclody🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮This event is part of the girls ongoing Certified Irish Angus Schools competition in partnership with ABP and Kepak, two major beef processors. The girls were presented with a prize of five Angus calves at the Ploughing Championships in September 2024 and have reared them for the past 10 months, recording their weights monthly.Since last September, Grace and Hollie have gained first-hand farming and business experience. It has given the girls practical exposure to food production. Encouraging them to develop communication and research skills. Over the past ten months rearing the calves has helped further their research for their project titled "Positioning Ireland as a Global leader in Sustainable beef production”.Arriving at the factory, Grace and Hollie Mae were greeted by a number of representatives from the Irish Beef sector. Mr. Graham Butler, General Manager of ABP Slaney, Mr. Eamon Moulds, Procurement Manager , along with Ms. Elenor Cummins, farm liaison. Representing ABP was Ms. Maire Kennedy and Mr. Stephen Connelly, Sustainability Manager for Ireland and Poland. Also present was Mr. William Delaney and Mr. Mark McCoy from the Certified Irish Angus Producers Group. The girls had a presentation on the history and the running of ABP Slaney from Mr. Graham Butler. After a change into their white overalls , the girls were given a guided tour of the site, including the abattoir where they got to see their cattle being weighed on the scales. During the tour the group met with Mr. Kevin Sheppard, a past pupil of FCJ and is now on the graduate programme, working in Quality Assurance in Slaney ABP.Grace and Hollie-Mae receive a presentation of their cheques. Before leaving, they posed for photographs, marking the end of a memorable and educational day. This unique opportunity has allowed Grace and Hollie-Mae to gain more knowledge about the Irish agri-food sector, beef production, animal welfare, and the importance of the Irish beef industry. The girls will continue to represent FCJ with pride and professionalism, and we congratulate them for their outstanding work so far in this competition. The final of the competition will take place in March 2025 in Croke Park. Finally on behalf of Grace, Hollie Mae, Mr. Breadan Daly, Mr Joe Byrne and Ms. Stephanie O’Dwyer we would like to thank everyone at ABP Slaney for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended to us during our visit. We truly appreciated the opportunity to learn from your team and gain valuable insights. Your generosity and expertise made our time both enjoyable and enriching, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration. ... See MoreSee Less
