School Uniforms and PE Uniforms

Please see information below in relation to the standard school uniform, and the school’s PE uniform.

The Importance of School Uniforms

At FCJ Secondary School, we believe that school uniforms (both the standard and PE uniform) play a crucial role in creating a cohesive and focused learning environment. Our uniforms promote equality by minimizing distractions related to fashion trends, allowing students to concentrate on their education. Additionally, wearing a uniform instills a sense of belonging and pride, reinforcing the school’s identity and values. Our commitment to quality ensures that every student feels comfortable and confident in their attire, contributing to a positive school experience.

Standard Uniform

The standard, day-to-day school uniform consists of the green crested jumper, white shirt, and black shoes (fully black runners with no coloured logos are acceptable). Boys wear grey trousers, and girls have the option of mid-calf length skirt with white socks/black tights, or grey trousers. There are 3 suppliers of the standard uniform, listed below:

PE Uniform

All students must wear the official FCJ PE Uniform to school on the day(s) that they have PE, which includes the new PE sports t-shirt for September 2025. There are 3 suppliers, all listed below. Remember, there are only 3 compulsory items in the PE uniform; the tracksuit bottoms, tracksuit top (crewneck or 1/4 zip, depending on individual preference), and the green sports t-shirt. Leisure shorts, GAA shorts, and training jerseys, are completely optional. Please note, from September 2025, all competitive FCJ GAA teams will wear maroon playing shorts, and this applies to teams for both boys and girls. Maroon FCJ GAA shorts are available on both the Bodibro and O’Reilly’s online stores, and the school will also have a stock of all sizes of the shorts for purchase at the beginning of the new school year. Again, this only applies to competitive teams, and these shorts are not a part of the PE uniform. As highlighted in April’s letter sent to all families, if a student wishes to wear shorts to PE, they must only wear the navy leisure shorts available through the companies below, and tracksuit bottoms must still be worn during all other classes on that day.

Note of clarification: there is no significance to the style of school crest on the PE uniforms. Both the maroon crest, and the traditional uniform crest are used across the 3 different companies, and both are fully acceptable. No family/student will at any stage be asked to purchase a new PE uniform based on the crest, either now or in the future.

The Bodibro and O’Reilly’s online stores will be open for purchases until Tuesday 3rd June. Reminder, all items will be delivered to families within 4-6 weeks of the store closing on this date.
